Artist Profile #7 - F64 Group and Edward Weston

Group F64 was founded by seven different 20th century San Francisco photographers. They all shared a certain photographic style and it was specifically characterized as being carefully framed with a sharp focus. They were often taken representing and very Western viewpoint. Edward Weston was born in Chicago and later moved to California, aware of the fact that he wanted to pursue photography. He then realized he needed more of a professional background and moved to Illinois to pursue photography professionally. He then married and opened a photography studio. He worked with other women and soon began to pursue nude photography, starting with his wife and their four kids. Later on, he began to photograph other nude women and travel to promote his work and to find to venues to photograph.
